sellerkit measured data

How busy are Facebook's buy and sell groups, and does the daily post count mean anything?

Measured 2026-09-09. 78 groups, every result of 12 Facebook group searches.

It depends almost entirely on language, and the post count means less than it looks. Across 78 groups returned by 12 searches in September 2026, the median Korean language selling group has 7,550 members and 7 posts a day, while the median Vietnamese one has 55,500 members and sits at Facebook's displayed ceiling of 90 or more posts a day. No Korean group passed 100,000 members; 11 Vietnamese ones did. But a high post count is not participation: in the three largest Korean promotion groups, every post that loaded came from one account reposting the same listing minute by minute, drawing at most one reaction.

Facebook does not publish a directory of its groups, but it does publish two numbers on every group it returns in search: how many members the group has, and how many posts it gets a day. This page records both for every group returned by twelve searches, and then reads the largest promotion groups to check whether the post count means what it appears to mean.

By language

LanguageGroupsMedian membersMedian daily postsAt the 90+ ceilingOver 100k members
Korean367,55070 of 360
Vietnamese2855,5009014 of 2811
Thai1465,0009012 of 146

The Korean groups are not merely smaller. Not one of the 36 reached the displayed posting ceiling, and not one passed 100,000 members, while half of the Vietnamese groups and 86 percent of the Thai ones sit at the ceiling.

The same country, two languages

Several of the Vietnamese and Thai groups returned serve communities living inside South Korea: markets attached to Korean university towns and industrial districts. They are on the same platform, in the same country, at a similar size.

Language of groupGroupsMedian membersMedian daily postsAt the 90+ ceiling
Korean367,55070 of 36
Vietnamese810,750906 of 8
Thai318,000902 of 3

Thirteen times the posting rate at a comparable size. Whatever makes a Facebook selling group busy, it travels with the language community rather than with the country.

A high post count is not participation

The three largest Korean groups that permit open promotion were opened and read directly. In each, every post that loaded was a listing from a single account, reposted with identical wording at one minute intervals.

GroupMembersDaily posts publishedEngagement on the posts read
Unlimited promotion and selling11,00070+1 like, 5 comments, all by the poster
Promote promote lots of promotion8,30070+no reactions, no comments
Everyone's promotion group7,90030+no reactions, no comments

In the largest of the three, the only comments on the post were left by the person who wrote it. A daily post count of 70 or more was one account, not seventy people. Any measure of a group that counts posts rather than posters will read a flooded group as a thriving one.

How this was measured

On 9 September 2026 we ran twelve searches on Facebook's group search surface while signed in: six in Korean (promotion, small business, self employment, secondhand, selling, starting a business), four in Vietnamese (mua bán, chợ, thanh lý, bán hàng online) and two in Thai (ขายของ, ตลาดนัด). Facebook returns seven groups per query on this surface; we recorded all of them, giving 84 rows and 78 distinct groups after removing groups returned by more than one query. Member and daily post figures are Facebook's own, read off the result card. The three promotion groups in the last table were then opened directly and their newest posts read as a signed in non-member.
