Marketplaces publish a price on each listing and nothing about the market as a whole. These pages are the result of reading every listing and counting. Each one states its sample size, how it was collected, and what it does not prove.
Fewer than you would expect. Of 26 marketplaces read directly in September 2026, 16 publish some usage figure, 11 publish ratings, 6 publish an actual price, and exactly one, Webflow, publishes uninstalls. Six publish nothing measurable at all: Airtable, Asana, ClickUp, Squarespace, Intercom and Canva list app names and taglines and no numbers.
The median Atlassian Marketplace cloud app costs US$45.83 per month for a 50 user team. Half of all paid apps fall between $29.17 and $78.86 per month. Only 2 percent charge more than $200 per month, and 76 percent are free for teams of 10 or fewer. Measured across the 400 most installed paid cloud apps in September 2026.
No. Among the 400 most installed paid Atlassian cloud apps, those under two years old have gained a median of 71.0 installs per month over their lifetime, against 10.4 per month for apps eight years or older, roughly seven times faster. The youngest band is only 10 apps, so treat it as a direction rather than a forecast. Measured September 2026.
Eleven installs at the median, and yes, mostly. Across all 6,202 cloud apps on the Atlassian Marketplace the median app has 11 installs and 1,128 have none at all. 4,755 apps, 76.7 percent, are not built on Connect, which on cloud means Forge. Only 341 apps, 5.5 percent, have passed a thousand installs. Measured September 2026 across the full catalogue.
The median AppExchange app's cheapest paid plan is US$85 per month, and a quarter of them start at US$900 or more. Among plans priced per user, the median is US$25 per user per month, which for a 50 person team is about US$1,250 a month, roughly 27 times the equivalent Atlassian Marketplace figure. 53.5 percent of the 6,063 apps are paid. Measured September 2026 across the full catalogue.
The median paid JetBrains Marketplace plugin costs US$45 per year for a commercial licence, or US$5.00 per month. A personal licence costs exactly half as much at the median. Only 634 of the marketplace's more than 10,000 plugins charge anything at all. Measured across all 634 in September 2026.
About 110. Half of the roughly 135,000 extensions on the Visual Studio Code Marketplace have fewer than 110 installs, and 13 percent have never been installed at all. Only 550 extensions, 0.4 percent, have passed a million installs. Measured across the full catalogue in September 2026.
The median Chrome extension has 24 users, and 18.9 percent of them request access to every website you visit. The store is far larger and far emptier than it looks: Google's own sitemap lists 360,306 items, of which about a fifth are themes rather than extensions, and only about 3 percent of extensions have passed ten thousand users. Measured September 2026 from a random sample of the whole store.
More than half. Of 52,896 plugins read from the WordPress.org directory in September 2026, 54.8 percent had not been updated in over a year, 41.8 percent not in over three years and 35.0 percent not in over five. The median plugin was last updated 530 days ago. Reach is just as thin: the median plugin reports 20 active installs.
550. Half of the 7,361 Obsidian community plugins with published statistics have fewer than 550 lifetime downloads, and a quarter have fewer than 161. Only 26 plugins, 0.4 percent, have passed a million. The catalogue is unusually well maintained: only 11.7 percent have gone two years without a release. Measured September 2026.
843 plugins in the Figma Community carry a price, and the median one has 1,572 users. A quarter of paid plugins, 220 of 843, have fewer than 100 users, while 83 have passed 100,000. 175 of the 1,000 most used plugins in the whole community are paid. Measured September 2026.
Three. Half of the 10,092 integrations in Zapier's directory are used in 3 or fewer Zaps, and 583 are used in none. Nine integrations account for over 100,000 Zaps each, and the ten largest hold 41 percent of all usage between them. Only 85 integrations, 0.8 percent, require a paid Zapier plan. Measured September 2026 across the full directory.
The median app in Discord's directory runs in 642 servers, and 19.1 percent of them are monetised. Only 51 apps, under 1 percent, are in a million servers or more, while the ten largest hold 40.7 percent of all installations between them. Apps that charge sit in a median 1,900 servers against 522 for those that do not. Measured September 2026 across 5,522 apps.
No. Every one of the 381 integrations with a marketplace listing carries a price of zero and has checkout disabled, so nothing in Notion's integration gallery is sold through Notion. The gallery is small, 364 integrations by Notion's own count, and two thirds of them ask to read your email address. Measured September 2026.
Mostly paid. Of 2,687 apps read from the Slack Marketplace in September 2026, only 421, or 15.7 percent, are labelled free. 27.2 percent are freemium, 34.5 percent are paid, and 12.5 percent come with a subscription to the vendor's own product. Taken together, 74.1 percent either charge or are bundled with something that does.
201 at the median. The marketplace holds 1,037 apps, and not one of them has reached 100,000 installs; the largest has 48,900. Only 28 apps have passed 10,000. 932 of the 1,037, or 89.9 percent, have no rating at all. Measured September 2026 across the full catalogue.
About 60. In a random sample of HubSpot's 2,566 app listings, the median app reports 60 installs and three quarters report 200 or fewer. Only 11 of 202 sampled apps have passed a thousand installs. HubSpot's ecosystem also lists more agencies than apps: 3,628 solution partner listings against 2,566 apps. Measured September 2026.
Twenty. Zoom's marketplace lists 3,773 apps and exactly 20 of them, 0.5 percent, appear in its Paid Apps category. It is also almost entirely unreviewed: 3,505 apps, 92.9 percent, have no rating at all, and the whole marketplace holds 1,203 ratings between them. Measured September 2026 across the full catalogue.
205, and mostly not. Airtable's marketplace lists 205 extensions from 132 publishers, and the median one last shipped a release 796 days ago, over two years. 163 of them, 79.5 percent, have gone more than a year without a release. About one in nine. Webflow is the only marketplace that publishes uninstall counts, and across its 405 apps the median app has lost 11.5 percent of its installs to uninstalls, with a quarter above 19.8 percent and the worst at 58.2 percent. Listing pages convert at a median of 3.8 percent of views into installs, and the median app took 5 installs in the last 30 days. Measured September 2026 across the full catalogue.
It depends almost entirely on the category, by a factor of about 25. Measured in September 2026 across 51 categories and 384 apps, the median top tier price runs from US$118 per month in advertising and SEO and $100 in dropshipping down to $10 in search and $4 in music. Demand and price move independently: the busiest categories are not the expensive ones.
A handful of studios publish a quarter of it. Across 1,517 apps from 568 companies, four publishers account for 375 apps, 24.7 percent of the market: MarketPushApps with 115, Certified Code with 104, PurpleBear with 97 and PURPLE with 59. Only 203 apps, 13.4 percent, are free outright, and 229 were running a discount on the day of measurement. Measured September 2026.
The median Shopify app's cheapest paid plan is US$9.99 a month and its most expensive plan is US$29.99. Almost everything offers a free option: only 1.5 percent have none.
